The Silent Wife by Karin Slaughter

A dark thriller focussing on a serial rapist and killer who operated in two parts of Sarah's life, eight years and two relationships apart.  Slaughter's visceral crime depiction is balanced by the backstory of her relationships with Jeremy and Will.  The breadcrumbs leading to the whodunnit is one of the best Slaughter has ever written. 4/5

"The Beast You Are" (yes Tremblay is a Big Business fan), contains a number of previously published short stories (mostly in lesser available publications) and one original novella, bearing the same title as the title of the main work. The novella is indeed the main drawcard and is written as a kind of "Watership Down" homage but written in Tremblay's unique eerie lamenting style. The short stories are extremely diverse and very unique and all tick the horror genre box perfectly. A must read for horror fans. 4/5

As HP progresses, he must decide whether the thrill and rewards are worth the increasingly dangerous situations he finds himself in. A fast-paced mystery thriller exploring an underworld which ostensibly ties into all aspects of human endeavour. The novel overflows with unique and unpredictable twists and turns making it a true modern adventure. 4/5
